Eligibility Criteria
IGNOU maintains clear eligibility guidelines to accommodate both fresh graduates and working professionals:
Direct Entry: A Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PH reserved categories).
Diploma Entry: A Bachelor’s Degree coupled with a one-year Diploma in Library Science.
Experience Entry: A Bachelor’s Degree along with two years of active working experience in a recognized Library or Information Centre.

Evaluation: The 30/70 Split
IGNOU uses a multi-tier evaluation system designed to ensure continuous learning:
Continuous Evaluation (30% Weightage): Students must submit a compulsory tutor-marked assignment for each course module to their allotted regional study centre. A minimum score of 40% is required in these assignments to pass.
Term-End Examination (70% Weightage): Written and practical exams are conducted twice a year (June and December cycles).
Note on Practicals: Attendance at practical counseling sessions at your local regional centre is highly recommended, as specialized software training (for cataloging and classification databases) is assessed during term-end practical exams.
