ONGC Invites Applications for Petroleum Executive Apprentices – 2025

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), India’s leading energy company and a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise, has announced openings for Petroleum Executive Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This initiative is part of ONGC’s nationwide Skill Development Programme aimed at preparing young graduates for meaningful careers in the oil and gas industry.

The apprenticeship offers hands-on learning and exposure to ONGC’s upstream operations — a valuable opportunity for geology graduates seeking to build expertise in petroleum exploration and production.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:
Graduate with Geology as one of the subjects. The degree must be recognized by UGC, AICTE, or another relevant statutory body.

Age Limit (as on 06.11.2025):
Minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years.

  • Relaxation for SC/ST candidates: 5 years

  • Relaxation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years

  • Additional relaxation for PwBD candidates as per government norms

Domicile:
Candidates must be residents of, or have obtained their qualifications from, the eligible districts corresponding to the ONGC work centres (as listed in the official notification).


Role Overview

As a Petroleum Executive Apprentice, selected candidates will:

  • Assist in geological data analysis and petroleum exploration studies.

  • Support teams involved in reservoir management and field development operations.

  • Gain practical experience in core sampling, production optimization, and subsurface interpretation.

  • Work under the guidance of experienced geoscientists and engineers in ONGC’s exploration projects.

The apprenticeship is designed to provide a blend of technical training and field exposure to prepare candidates for future roles in the oil and gas industry.


Selection Method

Selection will be made based on merit, drawn from the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Graduation in Geology).
In the event of equal merit, the candidate with higher age will be given preference.
There will be no written examination or interview.

  2. Submit the online application through ONGC’s official apprenticeship portal: www.ongcapprentices.ongc.co.in.

  3. Ensure that all documents and details are accurate. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

  4. Selected candidates will be notified through their registered email ID.


Important Instructions

  • Candidates who have previously undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training are not eligible to apply.

  • Applicants with more than one year of job or training experience after graduation will not be considered.

  • Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee regular employment with ONGC.
