OSSSC Nursing Officer 2026 Corrigendum: What's Changed
Update (6 July 2026): OSSSC has revised three things in the original Nursing Officer 2026 advertisement:
- Last date extended — Application submission moves from 13 July to 27 July 2026; Registration/Re-registration moves from 6 July to 20 July 2026.
- Tie-breaking rule revised — "Fewer wrong attempts" is no longer used to break a tie in the Written Test. Ranking in case of a tie now starts directly from Professional Qualification Marks.
- New disability category added — "Visually Impaired (VI)" is now a recognised sub-category under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Functional Classification, alongside the existing Hearing Impaired (HI), Orthopedically Impaired (OI), and Multiple Disabilities (MD) categories.
All other terms of the original advertisement remain unchanged.

OSSSC Nursing Officer Eligibility Criteria 2026
Educational Qualification
- Passed +2 under the 10+2 system (or equivalent) along with a Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from a Medical College/Hospital or other institution recognised and approved by the Indian Nursing Council.
- Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Odisha and hold a valid Registration or Renewal Certificate as on the date of submission of the online application.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write Odia — satisfied by passing Middle School with Odia as a language subject, OR Matriculation with Odia as the medium of examination in non-language subjects, OR Odia as a language subject in Class VII or above, OR the Odia test at M.E. School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department.

Minimum age for all categories is 21 years. Age is calculated as on the date of advertisement (12.06.2026). A candidate covered by more than one relaxation category gets only the single most beneficial relaxation, except where cumulative PwD relaxation is specifically allowed.
OSSSC Nursing Officer Application Fee 2026
- ₹500 for all candidates, except SC, ST, and PwD categories, who are exempted.

As per the corrigendum, ties in the Written Test are now resolved in this order:
- Professional Qualification Marks (higher % in GNM/B.Sc. Nursing ranked higher)
- Age Seniority (older candidate ranked higher)
- Higher Secondary (+2) Marks (if birth date is also the same)
- Commission's Discretion
The earlier first-level criterion of "fewer wrong attempts" has been removed by the corrigendum.
